Biophotncs (Plan Manufacturing,Engineering, and Advanced Technologies -24LB)

This certificate introduces students to lasers and photonics, their enabling characteristics, and how photonic detectors receive light signals and translate them into electricity. This certificate serves as a basis for other photonics programs and allows for the articulation of photonics into existing programs at CLC. This certificate is the first of three phases that will ultimately lead to a degree at CLC, and is based on courses developed by the National Center for Optics and Photonics Education (OP-TEC) which is a National Science Foundation (NSF) and Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Center program. Guidance was provided for CLC’s Laser/Photonics/Optics (LPO) certificate by OP-TEC.
