Course Description

"EquiQUEST – Horses and Humans A Living HistoryIn the beginning, perhaps 4 million years ago, equines/horses and humans coexisted and traveled along the same paths in ancient territories such as modern-day Tanzania. The coexistence was the starting point of a long and deep bi-species relationship that has played a critical role in shaping today’s world.Join this two day Quest and learn about the history of horse and humans in forming cultures, cities, societies and partnerships. On day one, experts from Tempel Farms of Wadsworth, Illinois will share history and perspective during an in class documentary experience at the College of Lake County, Grayslake Campus. Day two will take the Quest to Tempel Farms for a guided and exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the facility. You will see day to day operations, meet mares and foals and observe these beautiful and majestic animals, the Lipizzans.Following the visit to Temple Farms, Quest students will enjoy a delicious lunch at The Shanty in Wadsworth, Illinois. This Lake County fixture dates back to the mid-1800 and the staff will share its rich history. The Shanty was featured on Food Network.
