Course Description

This course (formerly WLD 170) is designed to introduce students to common welding processes and the industry. A general and basic knowledge of industry safety, operation and the fundamentals of common arc and gas welding processes are studied and practiced. Thermal cutting and other various industry basics are also introduced. Primary and essential skills regarding safe and proper operation will be developed and practiced. Equipment set up, applications, tools, material fundamentals will be covered. Development of welding skill and technique is secondary to understanding safety and knowledge of welding processes and associated equipment.Note: Student must furnish basic required PPE.
